What does the job involve?
Secretarial/administrative roles involve the proactive support for staff across the company. Most secretaries/administrators will need to have an excellent knowledge of corporate administration procedures, good numerical and IT skills, and be familiar with the operation of office equipment. Secretaries and administrators have to communicate often-complex information both internally and externally, and in some positions scientific or medical knowledge is desirable, due to the nature of the work. AstraZeneca is a worldwide company, giving plenty of opportunity for those with language skills to use them.
What kind of qualifications do I need?
A good A-level standard of qualification is usually required along with some other relevant professional qualifications, for example, a Professional Secretarial Diploma or RSA Typing/Word Processing qualifications. For more senior roles, you would need to have at least five years relevant experience in a secretarial/administrative role, gained through working in a variety of functions across the business.
