AstraZeneca provides donations to local charities that improve healthcare and/or enhance science education in the UK.

Our support under the charitable donations Programme is consistent with AstraZeneca’s mission to make a meaningful difference to patients’ health.  We focus our support in the UK on charitable and not-for-profit organisations based near, or operating close to, AstraZeneca’s key sites (Alderley Park, Avlon, Brixham, Charnwood, Edinburgh, Luton, and Macclesfield).

In 2009, we provided over £100K to charitable organisations in the UK, which improve healthcare or enhance science education.  Through the Charitable Donations Programme, AstraZeneca has supported charities, hospices and other not-for-profit groups, which:

  • Care for patients with life-limiting illnesses (e.g. cancer) and/or provide respite for their carers
  • Research various disease areas, including cancer, anaemia, respiratory disease and diabetes
  • Provide education and support for patients, including those with diabetes, cystic fibrosis, and anxiety or depression
  • Enrich science education for young people, for example through events, competitions or projects
