AstraZeneca Careers - Careers in EBS

What did you do before your current role?
I worked for a company that imported frozen products from Greenland, Denmark, Iceland, Canada, & Germany into the UK.  My main role was to make sure the products were shipped to relevant supermarkets in the UK and to liaise with the customers in the UK and the suppliers in the respective countries.

Why did you choose AstraZeneca?
The reason I choose AstraZeneca was, that it is a global company producing products that benefit everybody. Also I enjoy working in an environment that is multilingual as well as multicultural.

What was your recruitment experience like?
The recruitment was professional yet friendly, if a bit long!

What does your job involve?
My job involves processing sales orders for the Nordics (Denmark, Norway & Finland) and Germany into the SAP system either manually or electronically. I work closely with the Marketing Companies in the above countries as well as the warehouse in Sweden that supply the Nordics.

Part of my job is to speak to the customers in the countries I work for to resolve any issues that may arise pertaining to the orders.

This gives me a chance to practise the languages that I speak everyday. Other duties involve Month-end reporting and TL deputy duties such as resolving workload and, technical issues and promoting good customer services and best ways of working.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
The most enjoyable aspect of my job is being part of a team where you continuously listen to practically every language in Europe.

What's the most challenging aspect of your role?
The most challenging aspect is having to solve quite complex problem, within a set timeframe, which can happen every day.

In what ways do you feel that your team is leading edge?
We use the latest technology to process the orders as quickly and efficiently as possible, and the team I am part of consists of bright and motivated people.

What makes a great Sales Order Processor in your opinion?
A great Order Processor is able to process orders accurately, efficiently and is able to deal with day to day technical issues independently and within the time scale

What skills do you need to be successful?
One needs to be able to deal with customers calmly and effectively, especially in cases where our services have temporarily fallen short of expectations e.g. technical problems & blocked orders.

Also it is important to be able pay attention to detail and take pride in a job well executed. It is also important to be able to manage time and have the ability to manage priorities in order to meet all the deadlines.

What do you enjoy most about working for AstraZeneca?
I like the idea of working for a multinational company with a strong focus on people development.

What's the trait you most admire in other people?
I admire people who are honest, brave and willing to get on with things.

What general advice would you give someone about their career?
My best advice would be to perform to the best of ones ability and not be afraid to try to change things that could work better if done differently.

If you were not a Sales Order Processor, what would you be?
I would run a small hotel on the coast - somewhere where it is warm most of the time.
